Dangerous dog alert
I had the misfortune of being attacked by a dog this morning on Moleka trail. The dog (young, moderate sized, black with white markings on face) was accompanied by a middle aged woman (who had it on a leash but made no attempt to restrain it) and another more mature dog (brown/black) that joined the fray but did not attack. Watch out.
Nick

Yup, met the dog and lady prior. I gave the dog the "Dog Whisperer" treatment and made him sit. He started to jump and I fixed that. She wasn't happy but the dog did what I wanted. Bad owner. Hope you are ok Nick! - Paul

AAAARRRGGG!!! The owner's name is betty. The offending dog's name is LEO. This is the dog that bit me while running a number of months ago. I have filed a police and a hummane society report and have had several phone conversations with officer Ling. Call the Hummane Society and let them (Officer LING)know that Leo is on the loose!!!! AGAIN and AGAIN!!! Brian Wilson

Hey Run to the Sunners, be ready for just about anything! This last week was sure an indication of what all you can expect. Last weeks training run was hampered by heavy smoke and ash fall from the 2500 acre forest fire nearby at Poli Poli state park. The whole week the summit was closed due to extreme winds. On this last saturday's training run it was 31 degrees with a wind chill of 19 degrees according to the Haleakala weather website. So be ready for anything come March 24th. Anyone coming to Maui to train and would like to hook up let me know. See you in March. Bram

I came across this lady and her dogs a few months ago. When I came up on her, she only had one of her dogs, and she was too weak (or weak-willed) to restrain the first dog. She then told me that I had to walk with her down the trail till we found her other dog so it wouldn't attack me! This lady is kind of psycho...how can you reason with someone who doesn't even realize that it is her responsibility to make sure her dogs don't attack people?!?! (now that I think about it though, maybe a dog attack in the last loop would have woken me up a little a few weeks ago and enhanced my alertness in the race?! (: )
