Way to go all you 100 mile finishers, as well as Mae's and Joel's 50k finish- all valiant HURT performances! You are the BOMB!

Don

WOW !! I can't remember a HURT showing like this before. And after reading all the reports, Lean Horse was not an easy ride. Great job everyone!
You make us proud ! Special congratulations to the first time 100 milers. Enjoy the moment !

Lean Horse 100
"GRACE" How you climb up the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain, and so it is with life, which for many of us becomes one big gigantic test followed by one big gigantic lesson. In the end,it all comes down to one word. grace. it's how you accept winning and losing, good luck and bad luck, the darkness and the light.---It is very spiritual in the Black Hills. I had an amazing adventure!I completed the final miles chatting with my friend Uli Kamm and Anita Fromm.Plenty of time to spare. The course winds through a beautiful city park the last mile. As we chatted, we passed a bench,it crossed all of our minds as we approached the finish line, how lucky we are and just maybe we could take a minute or two sit on the bench and reflect on how "life is good" and to enjoy the moment. The finish line was a few steps away and we would forgo the bench. We all held hands and crossed the finish line together. LIFE IS GOOD!!

As Bob noted, I did indeed finish, slowly and painfully. I do so much road running that I don't think the surface bothered me as much as others. My calves felt it more than any other race, but are pretty good today. I have a lot of foot pain, several blisters. My slow 28:35 time after a sub 12 hour 50 was mainly due to hitting the wall at 50 miles, taking a recovery break and then a long slow trip back to the start.

I talked with Tom Craven this morning. He took a long break but DID FINISH! It was Tom's first 100M. His time was in the mid 28's. Great job Tom!
