Contrary to Urban myth, I survived the hit and run by that crazy ass skateboarder and the goaring by the giant boar of Pu'uohia. It was a tough go but I made it. Mikem has asked me to post occasionally on his where abouts. I'll comment on this post as needed. Right now Mike is scheduled to head out at 10:00 PM from Paradise. Aloha, Marv.

Well done mike!!! ,admirable and incurable effort!:0 ,and for a noble cause. Hopefully fatigue and mango rash will prevent the digging of Hopwood trenches this year. p.s Happy birthday and dream big always :) .

Hospice Run ends at 10:00 AM Sunday Morning. A few HURT members were on hand to welcome Mikey and Rex as they came down off the HURT trails at Paradise park this morning. Mikey did 120+ miles on HURT Trails in just under 60 HOURS. Mike wants to thank everyone who made this run possible, and in time he will. This was a HURT adventure, the support received and the tremendous Aloha from so many of you is truely wonderful. Marv

Hi, Marv here again. Yep, Mikey is on a mission. And after reading the post by Cheryl, you can rest assured that when our time comes to enter a hospice facility (yes, it WILL arrive) we will be fortunate to have Mikey, or someone as driven as he is, to attend to us, as it is with this same drive and sense of purpose that Mikey administers aid to his patients. Yes, we should be so lucky! And I can say, that is the only reason I survived that crazy ass skateboarder and the goaring by the giant boar of Pu'uohia. Please join Mikey and me on the trail ... and please support Hospice with your donations. Because that's what this is REALLY about ... and why Mikey is so driven. Warmest Aloha, Marv

first of all. let me warn you,,,if you are even thinking about pacing Mike for any of the remainder os his adventure....
he is not slowing down.
I started out with him at Paradise today at 12:30, that was after we fed him and got is feet fixed, and he had about a 30min. nap.
He nearly killed me up the switchbacks to the pie stand.
then we cruised down to Jackass....Don & Bozo caught up and said they would go back the shortcut to meet us...
they never caught us till the top of 5 min hill.
Harald did not catch us until the bottom of 5min. hill.
I ran Maunawili this am before I got to Mike, so I thought I'd be warmed up.
he nearly killed me climbing.
we got to the NC before 6pm....Gordon went out with him to Paradise, where Fish was to pick him up again....
the man is on a mission....
bless him...

Saturday 10:10 AM. Mike has finished 4 loops. He has taken a break to deal with some foot issues and hopes to be back out shortly. He tells me that he is looking for someone to run with him this evening, as lack of sleep is creating a mild halucinatory surrounding and he feels it would be best for a real person to help him out, rather than that Polar bear sleeping in the hammack up on the Flats. Give him a call if you can help...three-seven-three-two six three zero.

Hey Marv !
Spent the big part of the day with Mikey...just left him a bit ago at 6 pm (Friday). He was looking great...only whining a little (actually he wasn't whining at all...it was me doing the whining)...and was strong as an ox. He was right on time and was midway through loop #3. He talked about taking a short break either at the end of loop #3 or loop #4, but said he'd post the time and place so we could plan accordingly. I really hope that a bunch of you show-up for support tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night. Believe me, this is something special that Mike is doing here and it really makes me feel great to be a part of it. Aloha ! Don

Marv, nice reporting from the front! If happen to come across Magnificent Mike again, could you let him know that I'll jump back in on Saturday morning, 6am, at PP? If our hero is still on schedule then, he should be heading out for loop 7 around that time. Or loop 12. Whatever. Anyway: HURT rules apply. No running!

Marv here. I was hiding at Concretes and saw Mike and Don meandering around looking for the trail at 12:20 pm (Fri.). They looked in good shape, allowing for the shape they're in. I'm going to follow these yahoos from a distance and keep an eye on these guys, as well as let the pigs know what's going on out here today. If any young (or not-so-young) whippersnappers can join them, please do; and let them know this is a running event NOT a walking event!

Mike came up from Jackass and hit Pauoa flats at around 9:30 this morning. He was running with Rob L., but Rob was complaining of a sprained eyelash, and said something about his wife being due to give birth in 11 days, and that he had this 'feeling' he should head back home--just in case his phone wasn't working properly and his wife couldn't call him. Just in time, Don showed up, and He and Mike had a good laugh at the youngster. They then bounded off towards the Nature Center and are on-time. If I were you and was thinking of joining them, I'd show up a little early. Aloha!
