Carl Gammon came into HURT this year with high hopes of finishing. This is his story. For those who don't know, Carl used to live here and ran with HURT in the early days.
If you saw all of those yellow shirts at the finish, those were children and their family who are battling cancer. I ran for them and this is my race report. I never felt stronger. http://cancerrunner.typepad.com/dailyposts/
Brett Rivers who finished as fourth place overall and third place male has a nice race report you can read here.
Be sure to read through to the end of his report where he has some other links too, including a pacing race report by Devon Crosby-Helms as she paced second place runner Nathan Yanko. You can read her story here.
I'm ruminating. Which means I am not trying to sell anything except a hard time. And I usually just give that away. But I'm bothered by the recent slew of bare foot running articles by people who don't seem to know their feet from their anal sphincter. The most recent article was about Kenyan runners who do so much better running in bare feet as they put less stress on their legs and knees. ....Hey I did POSE. I was a Track star...well in high school.....it took me forever to learn to run on my heels and that was at the age of about 28. So I understand what is being said.
This Saturday you have the wonderful opportunity to have a workout, eat some great food and visit with friends. So, plan to meet at the entrance to Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden this Saturday morning at 7:00 am. You can do repeats in the Garden or go up to Pali Lookout and back, then bring your car to the equestrian area inside the Garden around 10 am, along with something good to eat for potluck. It's suggested that you also bring a chair and some bug spray. Unfortunately it's looking like I'll have to miss this fun event due to a trip to the mainland. Have fun ! I'll miss you guys ! Don
