Hi Nick, I think we met towards the end of the L50 somewhere..
There was a voice from the misty bog .."is there a road up there, is there a road..."
Later a campsite, L50/100 stragglers headlights in the mist passing by a tent in which a gentleman was making "grunting" noises.. :-}
Later a drunken angry farmer, "suggesting" our race pace could be improved!
Finally after the last checkpoint, from the road book:- ..."continue on steep path past slate quarries on L and continue with Tilberthwaite Gill ravine on R. At triple fork take middle track uphill..do not enter quarry on LH track, do NOT go down Crook Beck on lower path..."
.. So, inexplicably, we went right on the lower path into the ravine.. and over a river.. and on and on..
Which was nice...

Sounds lovely, Nick - just like you expected, right? The UTMB will be a walk in the park now... :)

Nick, I assume this was your run? Sounds like a grand time had by all. Lost in the misty bogs at night, how English. Ultra runners and sheep in the night....I wonder who was more terrified. Congratulations on the run!
