Good Luck to the Miwok 100k H.U.R.T. Runners!

Header_005

This Saturday, before most of us have yet to wake from our slumber, many of our H.U.R.T. ohana will already be off and running representing Hawaii at Miwok! The Miwok 100K is very hilly (approximately 11,800 feet of cumulative elevation gain) with spectacular views of San Francisco  and the Golden Gate Bridge, Mt. Tamalpais and the Point Reyes National Seashore.

The weather is looking great, they’ve trained hard and I bet they are raring to go. And some may or may not already be there doing some damage at REI. Enjoy the mainland and have a fantastic time!

Best of luck to Kelly, Mike, Augusto, Scot, Jacki, Huddy and the fabulous crew/pacer extraordinaire, Mike Flartey.

Go get ‘em guys!

Saturday May 2nd: Run with a view course preview @ 7am

Thank you to everyone who brought the donations and canned goods last week, and thank you to Benita for the fabulous idea!

This Saturday at 6:30am, join Sean on another intro to the Run With a View course. The actual route may or may not be the exact race course depending on which direction the group chooses to run but expect 2-4 hours depending on the speed of the individuals.

Remember to bring plenty of water and snacks, as there isn’t anything available at the trailhead and there are plenty of steep hills to climb out there.

Vi's Top of Tantalus 7 miler - Trail Series Race #2 - Saturday April 11th @ 8am

Aloha Athletes

Vi's Top of Tantalus is sold out but we are looking forward to seeing everyone who has signed up for race #2 of our HURT trail series.

The race run will start and finish at the Pu'u Ualakaa Park, about two miles up Tantalus Mountain on Round Top Drive. This race is conducted in memory of our dear HURT friend, Vi Medusky-Jones, who passed away from ALS three years ago.

According to our permit from the Division of State Parks, we are required to leave parking spaces open to other park users. Please park out on Round Top Drive, outside the entrance to the park, making sure your car is completely off the roadway. Carpooling to the race is highly encouraged. The race will start at the covered lookout, past the bathrooms, and finish in the upper parking lot. The route will be marked with our ribbons, which will be explained race morning when you check in. There will be one aid station near the moleka road crossing, and light refreshments at the finish. The course is rugged and hot, and we urge you to carry a water bottle...our aid stations are only to supplement your water needs. This is a State Park, so alcohol is not permitted. If you have to drop out, it is mandatory for you to inform one of the race directors at the start-finish, before the race is over.

We all look forward to seeing you, and spending another raucous morning on the trails!

Kat and Judy

Just a quick note to thank Mike Garrison for taking me on a tour of the HURT track – unbelievable.

Love it – the roots, hills, change in weather, view – probably the toughest 5.5 hours I’ve ever done!

I was on vacation from Australia (actually wedding anniversary), training for an upcoming event this year and heard about the HURT and lucky enough to get the guided tour.

Thanks again.
