We will start running at 7 AM from the race start point on the North Shore side and run the course to the turn around on the Waianae side and back!!

  • Have a small cooler for after to help recover, and a chair if you want to hang out or dip your feet in the ocean, and a change of cloths for after.
  • This will also afford you an opportunity for photo taking of this beautiful part of the island (the photo above is seen from the top parking lot looking in the direction you will be running from to the finish line).

We Hope you all can join us!!!!

Saturday June 20th: Peacock @ 6am

Aloha Athletes,

This Saturday Benita will once again be leading a run at Peacock starting from Dillingham airfield this time at 6am. It's looking like the general direction will be to head up the switchbacks and do an Are's loop but I'm not sure what the proposed mileage will be. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks and a sense of adventure, especially for newbies who will be joining us for the first time!

More info:

The main starting/staging area for Peacock is the Dillingham Airport Control Tower parking lot.

Facilities: 2 bathrooms

Water:  Spigots for filling bottles and packs.

Parking: Parking lot

Safety: 24/7 security. No known cases of car break-ins or thefts. Probably one of the safer places on the island to park.

Happy trails,

Saturday June 13th - Long Road @ 6am

Aloha Athletes,

The lovely Benita will be leading the Saturday run this week up on the North Shore at Peacock. The plan is to start at Long Road at 6am and head up and over to the stash and then return back the same way, around 15ish miles or so. As always folks can plan to go longer or shorter depending on what their plans are. She mentioned BYOB and food after for those that would like to gather afterwards.

Next week we'll be back at Peacock if you can't make it this time!

2015 Mango Madness Results

You can thank Co-Race Directors Melanie and Jacque (Photo credit: Angela Kwong) for creating a lot of madness at yesterday's Mango Madness trail race. I've seen a lot of photos on Facebook and it looks like everyone had a fun time. I am sure there are many people to thank for putting on this race and I am hoping someone else can jump in here to do that.

The 2015 results are here.

Kaena Point Firecracker 10+ Mile Run 4 July 2015!!!!

Please join the HURT Ohana as we host the 5th Race in the HURT Trail Series!!!

Start Time

Race starts at 7:00am 4 July

This race is a fast, flat, out-and-back course that is a little longer than 10 miles and parallels the ocean along jeep trails and an old sugar cane rail line. The course runs from the end of the pavement at Mokuleia past Dillingham Airfield and Camp Erdman, to where the pavement begins again on the Waianae coast side at Yokohama Bay. We will have an aid station with water set up at the turnaround, however, we will require ALL runners to carry adequate water (at least one 20 ounce bottle) during the run. It is a hot course without much shade. Please feel free to be "Holiday Festive" in your attire and bring a local kine dish to share with all.

Directions To Race Start: From the North Shore, follow the signs to Waialua/Mokuleia. Follow Farrington Highway past Dillingham Airfield and Camp Erdman. At the end of the paved road, you will come to Kaena Point State Park dirt parking lot on your right. There will be parking attendants directing you where to park.

Registration is here: https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=30806

We will require ALL runners to carry adequate water (at least one 20 ounce bottle) during the run.

Please arrive no later than 6:30am to check-in and get your race number. IMPORTANT: THERE WILL BE NO LATE REGISTRATIONS FOR THIS RACE! We have very strict permit limitations on the number of runners we can have out on the course for this race, to protect the sensitive land surrounding the sanctuary and to maintain sustainability of the future of this race. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

COURSE ANNOUNCEMENT: This course no longer goes through the sanctuary, but around it, along the outside of the sanctuary fence. We will not allow any runners through the gate into the sanctuary. Do not touch the fence as you run along it. Do not run on the concrete at the foot of the fence as it is very fragile - it will be very tempting for some of you to run on the concrete, especially where the trail narrows or to pass other runners, so our Fence Patrol Race Course Marshals will be keeping a close eye on this! If you do not comply with their instructions, your number will be noted and you will be disqualified from the race, so please kokua.

Course preview runs to be announced soon!!!!
