Awards

It took more than a team or a village to put on this event with all the various logistics and planning. Much mahalos to our awesome HURT Ohana for all their time and efforts: PJ & John Salmonson, Carl Gammon, Freddy Halmes, Iris & Glenn Oshiro, Myra Pacubas, Ronald Federizo, Lauri Yonemoto, Neal Yasuda, Marian Yasuda (for letting us “borrow” Neal), Kelly Sutcliffe (+1), Kana Yamamoto, Jacque Tellei, Mike Cole, Augusto Decastro, Brian Dote, Kenji Takanishi, Amanda Allgood, Jaren Oshiro, Rachel Parker, Alex Garcia, Teresa Ullman, Jack Pease, Benito Quintana, Mark McKeague, Clem Aleka-Gorai, Adam Fabel, Mike Hee, Sue Lohr, Kalani Pascual, (Little) Jenn McVay, Rick Otani, Donielle & Chis Wolfe, and Sarah Santilli & Jeff Cashon.

Volunteers

Major thanks to O’ahu Na Ala Hele, Freddy Halmes, and the volunteers for performing down to the wire maintenance on the course due to the effects of Hurricane Lane (or its remnants).

Mahalo to Ray Woo of Runners HI for helping us get the supply of Tailwind Endurance and Skratch labs drinks.

Most of all a very big heartfelt mahalo to John Salmonson for creating a “challenging course’ that “was both exhilarating and technical to the point of near insanity” (a summary of quotes from various runners). Without his generosity to share his love of trail running and ingenuity to create the course, we wouldn’t be able to have celebrated this tradition. That being said, I guess this course is HURT-certified! Thank you, John!

Course photos were taken by Kalani Pascual (Facebook) and Alex Garcia (Facebook). Finisher photos were taken by Augusto Decastro.
